Ghaithaa Alshaar, born 1985, is a Syrian writer and artist. She holds a BA in Music Education from the Faculty of Music Education in Homs (Syria) and a diploma in Educational Psychology from Damascus (Syria). In 2008, she ran a private institute for teaching music in her city (Salamiyah), and performed several concerts as an Oud player in Syria and the Emirates, and worked for six years with UNRWA before leaving for Germany in 2015. She studied Public Policy Diploma at Bard American College in Berlin and is now completing her Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Central European University in Vienna. She writes political and social articles for several Arab newspapers.
