Ma Jias work is related to cultural, political and philosophical issues, which are transferred into a formal system using structures, colours and materials. It can be read as a further development of time, space and emotional language, based on different cultural traditions.

Ma Jia was born in 1981 in Jilin, China. She finished her painting study 2005 at the Central Academy of Fine Art, Beijing, China. Since 2011 she is living and working in Vienna, where she also studies at the Academy of Fine Art at Heimo Zobernig.
