Whoosh.wien is a 5 year-old art collective, which creates tourism for locals – provocative, critical, humorous walks which are focused on residents coming together in debate and celebration. We come from eight countries, and want to show that Wien presents a successful, progressive alternative to turbocapitalism. Eugene Quinn – who helped found Whoosh – is a London-born journalist, with Irish parents, and lives in Vienna now for 17 years. He will explain why at the Salonette party. Our events are experimental and playful, and visit all parts of the city. Eugene is a political DJ at colourful parties, often outdoors and for free, and he works with partners in various fields, including FM4, TU, Climate Protection Ministry, Red Bull, EU, UN & Stadt Wien. He has also been fined three times for being an illegal tour guide, paying a total of €1200 to Stadt Wien, which the media enjoyed reporting on. He also curates social-dining events, reviving the salon moment 100 years ago in Wien, and presented the Austrian Citizenship Test as a pub quiz, at Wien Museum, and all over Leopoldstadt, as part of Vienna Design Week. He will play some tunes after the Salonette presentation, to make the Vienna night more magical.
